How to Prepare for a Neck Lift

A neck lift helps to tighten neckline skin to deliver an excellent complement to facial beauty. This surgery can be combined with a facial rejuvenation procedure or performed as a standalone treatment. In addition, a neck lift removes excess neck tissue accumulated due to aging or weight loss.
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Lisa Donofrio can provide more information about this aesthetic surgery during a comprehensive neck lift consultation. Here are four helpful preparation tips to help you start in an excellent place for your surgery.
1: Schedule Time Off from Work
Plan to take one to two weeks off work to recover. If your job is not physically demanding, you could return to work sooner than if your work requires strenuous activity. However, limit exercise for at least one month after a neck lift. Otherwise, you can resume most normal daily activities two weeks after your operation.
2. Meal Prep
Consuming nutritious food and drinks during your neck lift recovery is crucial to optimizing your body’s natural healing process. We suggest you prepare large batches of healthy meals, pre-portion them, and store them in the freezer. Then you can thaw and heat, making your meals easy to prepare.
Also, get the grocery shopping completed before the day of your operation. When you return home, your fridge and pantry should be well-stocked with healthy foods and fluids. Focus on eating fresh fruits and vegetables and lean proteins during your recovery and drink plenty of water. Avoid sugary beverages like colas and sports drinks.
3: Pick Up Your Prescriptions
Dr. Donofrio will prescribe what you need before the day of your procedure. Get these filled beforehand to avoid running to the pharmacy after your operation.
You might also want to have over-the-counter pain medication to make you comfortable during recovery. However, don’t take drugs or supplements that Dr. Donofrio hasn’t approved until you’ve fully healed.
4: Arrange for Help After Surgery
You will need a responsible adult to drive you to and from your neck lift procedure and someone to help you around the house for the first few days of recovery. If you have children or pets, you’ll also want to arrange for extra help caring for them while you heal after your neck lift.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to avoid heavy lifting for a few weeks, so get caught up on household chores like laundry, grocery shopping, and cleaning before your neck lift so that you can focus on resting and healing when you get home.
